Global warming is the long-term increase in the Earth’s temperature due to gases like carbon dioxide and methane trapping heat in the atmosphere. This rise is mainly caused by humans burning coal, oil, and natural gas, and cutting down forests.

Global warming is the long-term increase in Earth’s average surface temperature primarily due to human activities like burning fossil fuels, leading to the greenhouse effect. This phenomenon traps heat in the atmosphere, causing temperatures to rise. The impacts include extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and disruptions to ecosystems. Scientists emphasize the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate global warming’s effects and limit temperature increases to avoid catastrophic consequences
